Chantilly is part of the general Washington Metropolitan area and is located in both western Fairfax County and south eastern Loudoun County. The area itself is situated between Sterling and Centreville along Route 28 and between Middleburg and Fairfax City along Route 50. It is approximately twenty four miles from Washington DC.  There are over 41,000 residents who enjoy a suburban lifestyle that is close to several large scale strip malls, grocery stores and professional offices. The primary shopping area is the Fair Oaks Mall that is only a short distance drive on Route 50.


The Washington Dulles International Airport that serves the greater Washington Metropolitan area is located partially in Chantilly. Travelers are able to catch a flight to over eighty domestic locations with non-stop service and travel to over forty international destinations around the world. It is also the location of the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center annex of the National Air and Space Museum and the National Reconnaissance Office.


Chantilly became noticed during the Battle of Chantilly on September 1, 1892.  Luckily, a small park of five acres was created that pays homage to a portion of the battle area as most of the battlefields have been developed for residential housing and commercial developments. Manassas National Battle Park is a popular destination for historical buffs and is a short drive southwest on the I-66. Recreational opportunities abound as Chantilly is surrounded by several parks for all to enjoy and have many various activities, including Rocky Run Park, Greenbriar Park, Frog Branch Stream Valley Park, Popular Tree Park, Flat Lick Stream Valley Park and Fair Woods Park.


Northern Virginia has many golfing locations for the serious as well as the recreational golfer less than a half hour drive from Chantilly. Furthermore, the Fair Oaks Gold Park and the International Country Club both offer reasonable rates.


Students attend schools within theFairfaxCountyandLoudounCountyschool systems due to Chantilly being situated within the two counties. There are over ten elementary schools, four middle schools and three high schools that serve the community.
